I am sure there won't be any individual who would object that dining with a view is not necessary. Every individual looks out for a place which has a nice view. But mostly such a view would turn out to be a rush tourist spot. It is quite obvious that the number of people who would like to dine in such a setting would be numerous. This often is a mix of both the residents and short term tourist.
To avoid being one of the 'Great Unwashed' many opt out of this and would end up having an ordinary meal. However I have recently found a solution for one such spot which is none other than the Burj Khalifa. It is no doubt a spectacular piece of work and a magnet attractor for many across the global. Therefore the Mega tall skyscraper is always packed and finding a place a bit calm is a major predicament. Parking is another major issue and adds on to the furnace. Zahr El Rouman is the solution I propose to such individuals. The Lebanese chain is located in Millennium Towers Business Bay and faces the charming Mega structure. There is no need to worry about buildings obstructing the view as it is a clear path. This solves our major problem as discussed. Another buzzkill is the parking issue, which is solved by Valet Parking. Zahr El Rouman offers valet parking to all its customers. This sums up all the issues faced when dining with a view of Burj Khalifa and thereby making it a viable option. |
However is it of any good? The young chain which emerged a year and half back did the location spotting right. The food and menu has also been done correctly. The brand specializes particularly in the Lebanese and Middle Eastern cuisine and is known for regularly updating the menu according to the customer preference. All the items are priced at a friendly range.
The interior of the outlet is well structured and well ventilated. Like any other diner in Business Bay Zahr El Rouman offers both indoor and outdoor seating. Along with the fun filled food, the chain also offers shisha for customer with numerous flavors at economical price of AED 50-65. Even though shisha is served both indoor and outdoor, the venue does not feel suffocated and pressed with smoke. That gives them another point for ambiance and variety.
Feel like home or a formal diner? Well the answer for this lies with the team effort of both staff and management. Mr. Hessam was very kind to ensure that every item on the table was #TopNotch. The staff as well made me very comfortable as they were extremely proactive and had the smile, which radiates happiness and peace. A special mention to Cathy and Jacky who ensured I was enjoying every dish on the table. They also ensured that I didn’t miss out on any of the top favorites and was successful in convincing me to try them out
As mentioned the menu which is done correctly offers all day breakfast, authentic Arabic flatbreads with ample variations, salads, appetizers and some lavish main course variety with a range of drinks and desserts.

To begin with, we were served piping hot Lentil Soup to sooth our taste buds from the cold weather. It came with crispy fried pita pieces and lemon wedges. The soup was creamy and rich with prominent flavors of lentil.. It was extremely smooth and consistent. Following, we had the popular cold drinks aka, sharabs from the menu along with some tempting spread of cold and hot appetizers.
For drinks, we picked House Lemonade and Cocktail. The drinks at Zahr el Rouman is served either as 0.5L for one or 1L that is sufficient for two or more persons. The House Lemonade was a blend of lemon, mango and ginger served in a 1L pitcher for us. The Cocktail, was another, thick milkshake with prominent flavors of mango
To compliment the sharabs, we were served some freshly prepared Fattoush and Hummus with Shawarma. The fattoush was a preparation of fresh veggies and lettuce topped with fried pieces of pita bread. The Hummus with shawarma was a thick and creamy blend of chickpeas, tahini and olive oil topped with chicken shawarma pieces. The hummus came with freshly baked khubz aka, pita bread.
Upon Cathy’s recommendation we decided to try Manakish topped with Soujouk and cheese. And I must say, this is by far #TheBest Manakish I’ve had till date. The Manakish was prepared with spicy seasoned soujouk and baked with cheese topping on a finely crafted thin crust dough.
Zahr el Rouman recently added couple of new items on their menu which was mentioned as #MustHave by the manager and the staffs. So, we tried the Shrimps Osmalieya , Falafel with tahini, Spicy potato and grilled Halloumi with Roca.
The Shrimps Osmalieya was a crispy konafa crusted tiger shrimps dish. It deep-fried and served with signature spicy dip. The crunch in each bite was #SuperDelicious with lemon and herb flavors.
The Falafel was another, #SuperDelicious platter that was deep fried scoops of grounded chickpeas and broad beans. Along with the crunchy falafel, pickled veggies and tahini were served to compliment the flavors.
The spicy potatoes, is a common dish in most Arabic food joints. This one came in cube form with spicy seasoning and topped with chopped chilies.
The Grilled Halloumi, however failed to meet my taste buds as it was too chewy. Although, I enjoyed the Roca salad topping that was, braised tomatoes, olive and walnuts
For the main course, we decided to go simple with a mix grill platter and the chef's specialty dish of the day, that was Kamar el Zaman.
The mix grill had varieties of chicken shish taouk, lamb kebab and lamb cubes. The flavors of each were delicious although, I felt the meat needed to be well cooked as it had the chewy texture on the inside.

The Kamar el Zaman- Chef's Dish of the Day, was a preparation of shredded chicken and mushrooms in balsamic sauce. The aroma of the gravy was very tempting and it went well with steamed rice.
Lastly, to end the meal on a sweet note, we were served Halawi Cheesecake #MyFavorite and Grandmother’s chocolate biscuit. The Halawi, a traditional Arabic dessert of sesame seeds with caramelized sugar definitely was the #Highlight with creamy cheesecake layer over the crumb base.
The Grandmother’s Chocolate Biscuit was an absolute #Chocolatty serving of Old-Fashioned chocolate cake with #Popular Gandour Lebanese biscuit! The cakes were served with vanilla ice cream drizzled as topping.
A perfect dine out spot with authentic Arabian and fusionized cuisine with 100% hospitality and quality. And also a major life saver for the above addressed issues
Ps, don't forget to ask for the Chef's speciality Dish of the Day.
