Zahr El Laymoun purely located in the Downtown area, offers authentic Lebanese and Arabic cuisine. The outlet I visited is located in Emmar Square Bldg 1. This outlet offers both indoor and outdoor seating, however, the outside seating is right next to the smoking area of the building. So if you don’t like the smoke smell while eating, outdoor seating can be easily eliminated. For some reason the indoor shades and furniture contrasted delightfully. Something that easily caught my attention was the cushions which had the typical red and white ghutra design. This according to me, added to the Middle Eastern hospitality and ambiance. The other colors were a shade of light purple, bright pink and mid toned brown furniture. All these colors had a proper blend. Another notable feature was that, the outlet had plenty of indoor plants. There was also an element of reuse; the inverted steel bucket light shade added to the decor. So therefore, the ambiance check box can easily achieve a 100%.
Despite the live cooking station and open kitchen , the outlet offered plenty of indoor space. It even gave me an opportunity to witness the making of various dishes. Something I really want to mention is the way they prepared their manakish. It had a professional feel and the chef ensured that the ingredients was evenly spread. The store was filled with the strong aroma of the freshly baked warm kaboos (Arabic bread). As I was running late and as my hunger was quite substantial, I decided to have a spicy shawarma which was priced at AED 20. The shawarma was surely overpriced. It was served in an ordinary size kuboos which is quite small. However the quantity of the chicken was very generous along with pickles and garlic paste. In order to make it spicy they just used tobassco which was quite a disappointment. Hope to visit them soon to try the hot and cold mezze platters. |
