Vasanta Bhavan is a quiet little outlet located right behind GPO (General Post Office) which is located in Al Karama. Lately, parking is an issue in this area during peak hours, but there is always a hope to find parking as there is ample parking available behind the outlet. It’s a pure vegetarian restaurant specializing in South Indian dishes. They also serve North Indian curries and dishes as well. The ambience and fit out is of an average restaurant with the very ordinary color contrast. As it is a small shop, it could accommodate around 30-40 customers.
My visit to the shop was for a lazy weekend morning breakfast. The shop was crowded but got a seat immediately. South Indian breakfasts are normally rich and extremely filling. They offer food items ranging from dosa, vada, idly, rice items, curry’s and so on. I was actually confused of what to order. I ordered for the mini tiffin which was a total win win opportunity to taste various items in one meal. The mini tiffin consisted of a Vada, Idly and pongal, which was served with 3 kinds of assorted chutneys and sambar. This was then followed by a mini masala dosa and a cup of filter coffee. There was also a portion of a popular south indian dessert, kesari that is rava cooked in pure ghee. All this was priced at AED 15. It was quiet a lot of food for a very pocket friendly price and I was mesmerized by this. The service was quick as after placing the order, the food was served within 7-10mins. |
