The Pizza Company might be familiar among the Asian crowd as the parent franchise originates from Thailand. It is yet another fast food joint which made its appearance in early 2008, however due to the global recession in that period, everything was a bit slow. The chain focuses mainly in serving Italian-American cuisine, like any other chain in the category.
I happened to visit the branch in Oud Metha, years ago. The experience was just usual and nothing really caught my attention to create the urge to visit them again. But recently I visited them, as I had to use the entertainer vouchers I had received. I visited the outlet in Al Satwa, which is located on the busy 2nd December Street. As it was one of those lazy Friday evenings, the whole family decided to go for a calm dinner. Parking in this area is a major issue, so it even took us a while to find a parking spot. On arrival at the outlet, I noticed it was bustling with customers, waiters and the tantalizing aroma of warm cheese and flour. The interiors were simple bright yellow walls with ordinary tile flooring. To contrast the bright walls, the furniture was dark toned brown with maroon upholstery. The outlet offers both indoor and outdoor seating to cater more customers. To avail a table inside, we were asked to wait for about 10 minutes. The service was just average since the waiters were least concerned to keep up to their word; to offer cleaned table and seats. Only after 5 minutes of seating, we were offered the menu. |
We decided to go-healthy on the appetizer and ordered a Garlic Butter Chicken Salad. The salad priced AED 19 offered plenty of fresh vegetables shredded and cut into slices. There were cherry tomatoes, iceberg lettuce, red cabbage, and onions. The chicken cubes in the center of the bowl barely had any butter chicken flavoring.
For pizzas, we ordered a chicken trio and char grilled chicken. Each large pan pizza was priced AED 52. The chicken trio was much better compared to the char grilled chicken. The flavor of the cheese and sauce was perfectly baked with crispy crust. However, even though it was a trio pizza, there was an absence of three distinctive ingredients.
The char grilled pizza, on the other hand, was first served to the table not fully baked and the ingredients seemed raw on the pizza. Upon complaining, the server agreed to re-bake the pizza once again and ended up serving a partially burnt pizza.

Indeed, my experience at Pizza Company was very disappointing.
