Well the famous quote "A dream doesn’t become a reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work " is the most apt quote for team Spice Kraft. The team of 3 namely Velish, Manish and Jayant crafted the concept of Spice Kraft with the idea of making the outlet a diner spot for many to share stories and food around a table. The whole concept and outlet fit is targeted to make an individual feel more relaxed and chill. The outlet is located in Cluster I of the JLT complex. As the outlet is on Lake Level, the outdoor seating has a spectacular and relaxed atmosphere. The soothing and calm water ripple noises surely would spread calmness to any individual.
The interiors are simple with vibrant orange walls and parquet flooring. The orange wall has the stunning skyline of Dubai but this artwork is a bit different. The artwork is done using the Indian patterns. With both indoor and outdoor seating facility, the seating capacity at the outlet is quite fair and decent. As mentioned earlier in the quote, all three of them input a combination of true teamwork and hard-work. As I was invited by the team for dinner, I was lucky enough to have a conversation with one of the partners Mr Manish. Through the conversation I could get a brief understanding of their unique inputs they contributed to the venture. Ms. Velish puts her expertise in cooking and thus is a creative force of the kitchen. Through her expertise she ensures that the food and drinks retains the traditional element and redefining it subtly. |
The staff are all well knowledgeable and proactive. This is an area where Mr Jayant puts in his contribution and trains the staff well. This is done through a series of experience and training sessions back home in India. After which they are then brought here to be exposed to the more multi cultured markets of UAE.
Mr Manish solely manages the outlet with inputs from the other partners and staff. During our conversation he mentioned that Spice Kraft is soon to open more outlets across Dubai.
Spice kraft offers a menu that comprises of Mumbai Grilled Sandwiches, fusion items of dabba style pasta, bun dabelis, rich Gujarati thali, flavourful Punjabi curries and much more. I dropped by with my parents for the tasting and they were as thrilled as me to try the blend of dishes from 3 states.

To start of our tasting, we decided to try the street style Sev Puri as it is my mum’s favorite. It was a perfect start to our tasting with crunchy puris and mouthwatering flavors! The menu at Spice Kraft is designed in a way that even the simplest of all dishes are served with a unique element. The Sev Puri was topped with pomegranate pearls along with the usual ingredients of diced potato, onions and chutneys. One plate of Sev Puri consisted of about 6 puri’s and was priced for just Aed 10.
As a second starter, we also tried the Chili Cheese Sandwich from the toasted sandwich section. This was a simple sandwich served warm with delicious cheesy melt filling (Spicy). The preparation of cheese with bell peppers, onions and chili was yumm!! #MustHave
The menu also consists of an Indo-Chinese section at the back, with varied sautéed and sauce-fried dishes. From this section, we tried the Gobi (cauliflower) manchurian and idly chilly. The Gobi Manchurian (AED 20) was a sauce-fried preparation of fried cauliflower florets with onion, bell peppers, garlic in chilly and soya sauce. The fried florets retained its crunch and crisp nature for long.
Idly chilly (AED 18), was a popular fusion of the South Indian Idly (rice dough preparation) along with Chinese sauce mix as mentioned above. Idly’s are steamed cake like cotton balls prepared from rice commonly consumed as light and healthy breakfast. But the indo chinese fusion of Idlys makes it delicious and flavorful.
My personal favorite was Gobi Manchurian.

To complement our meal, we ordered for some fresh drinks from the drinks menu. We tried a fresh pineapple juice, ginger lime mint juice and a mango lassi. The ginger lime mint was a wild flavored drink just like how it is prepared at home. The ingredients were boiled to attain a consistency like syrup. It was then blended with limjuice and ice. #RecipeOutSoon
The mango lassi, is a popular pick in most Indian joints. It is a blend of mango pulp in authentic lassi (yogurts base). It was served thick and form-y in a mason jar with a handle.
For the main course, we ordered the signature Spice Kraft Punjabi thali, along with some veg curries & roti’s. The Punjabi Thali was wholesome of traditional delicacies in one platter for AED 22. It consisted of an appetizer, a portion of paneer dish, two vegetable dishes with jeera rice and rotis. For the sides, there was raita, pappad, salad and dessert. The platter comes with a unique ‘’Vegetable of the day’’ dish daily.
For gravies, we tried the signature Paneer Tikka Masala and Veg Patiala. We all liked the Paneer Tikka Masala over the Veg Patiala. The Paneer Tikka Masala (AED 25) was from the fresh paneer entries section. It was a preparation of succulent pieces of grilled paneer cooked in thick creamy light spiced tomato base.
The Veg Patiala (AED24) was a preparation of stuffed vegetable pastry rolls dipped in thick tomato and cashew based gravy. The curry was creamy along with Indian spices to make it flavorful.
We tried the butter naan, garlic naan and kulcha to go with the yummy gravies.
For desserts, we tried the best ever Gulkand Khoya Shooter, Gulab Jamun and Shahi Gajar Halwa. The desserts were priced between AED 8-12 per portion.
The Gulkand Khoya Shooter was the highlight among the three. It was served in shots glass as layers of ghulkand (rose petal jam) and khoya cream. The Gulab Jamun (two pieces) was served warm and soft. The Gajar Halwa was flavorful with Desi ghee taste. #SugarOverDose
Thus, a perfect vegetarian spot which is definitely light to the pocket. They also offer delivery to all nearby areas
