Shayan restaurant is a fine dining restaurant located in Reyhaan Rotana serving Persian cuisine. The restaurant was well lit with aromatic and soothing candles adding to the luxury feel. The outlet offered indoor seating, along with private rooms, that had a royal ambience. The blend of colors and fabrics exhibited a vintage experience.
The menu offered a full 3 course Persian meal starting from soups and appetizers to desserts and beverages. The waiter first served us complimentary refreshing mint-yogurt drink followed by a fresh salad platter that comprised of leafy vegetables, pickles and walnut-yogurt raita. My order was Kashk E Bademjan(appetizer), Shah Meygoo, Joojeh kabab Bedone Ostokhan, Zereshk Polow Ba Morgh and strawberry mango smoothie. The Kashk E Bademjan was a hot appetizer priced at Aed 42. It was fried eggplant mixed with labneh, topped with seasonal spices and fried onions. The Shah Meygoo was a platter with charcoal grilled tiger prawns marinated in fresh herbs and lime. The platter was priced at Aed 135. The Zereshk Polow Ba Morgh platter was chicken and rice combo platter. The chicken was well cooked; it was served with some stew gravy and the rice was topped with some fresh barberries. The platter was priced at Aed 85. The Joojeh Kabab Bedone Ostokhan had three-flavoured rice topped with some charcoal grilled boneless chicken pieces priced at Aed 95. The waiter also served some room temperature butter cubes with some seasoning, garlic and pickles as a part of the meal. The strawberry mango smoothie was a blend of fresh fruit pulp blended with milk and cream. The shake was priced at Aed 26. For the desserts, the order was a Desser Shayan. This beautifully presented dessert was scoops of date ice cream topped with coffee syrup and caramelized almonds. The desert was priced at Aed 43. Overall, Shayan restaurant is a must visit for authentic fine dining Persian-Iranian cuisine and for a luxury experience. The key ingredient I noted in all the dishes ordered was the use of saffron as an ingredient and for garnishing. Saffron is a popularly known herb with a lot of nutritional benefits. |
