In this part of the world, it is really difficult to find any individual who does not like Shawarma and Arabic food. It is a tradition that flows into the expats spontaneously even without their knowledge. On an average if I had to choose a sample size of 10, I am definitely sure that all 10 would have at least tasted it once and would be a regular eater. With so much of its importance in our food culture, it is definitely needed by those who serve shawarma to ensure premium quality in what they serve. Lately, the Government has also intervened and made the rules more underpinning for the restaurant chains.
Shawarmania, is one such a diner that ensures premium quality and service. There is also an element of twist in what they offer. Unlike the regular cafeteria and diners, that serve only the sandwich, the chain offers more of platters served with French fries and hummus. They also serve Biriyani Shawarma which is something unique in the market with a #Twist. Is it easy on the pocket? Well the answer is a yes. It cannot be categorized as extremely cheap, but would sit in the category of reasonable and worth. The average range of a sandwich would be AED 25 and for the platters it would be around AED70-75. The outlet is located in JLT cluster Q and offers both indoor and outdoor seating. The outlet is located a little away from the usual JLT lake view, although there is a view of the community park which adds a soothing ambiance. The interior seating is a bit cramped, with a color scheme of green and white. |
To start off the tasting spree at Shawermania, we tried Hummus with Shawarma (AED 19) and French fries with cheese (AED 15). The hummus with shawarma was a completely different take from the usual plain hummus served in other outlets. The hummus had a creamy consistency with right amount of tahini flavoring and thickness. It was topped with delicious shredded shawrama and roasted pine nuts along with olive oil for additional taste #WorthATry
The French fries with cheese did not have any unique or impressive element in the dish. It was golden fried French fries topped with melted yellow cheese glaze and served with some Doritos chips on the side.
For the main course, we tried Shawermania’s popular Shawarma Biryani and Arabic Shawarma platter. The Shawarma biryani (AED 30) was the #Highlight dish of the tasting session. It was a mind-blowing blend of well-marinated chicken with well-flavored and aromatic homemade style biryani rice. #HighlyRecommended
The Arabic Shawarma priced AED 35 was a preparation of shawarma chicken wrapped in saj bread with mouthful of juicy pickles and garlic sauce. The sandwich was served as bite size along with crunchy golden fried French fries, pickles and garlic sauce on the side. There was also a secret Shawermania spice sprinkled over the platter which is definitely a plus point to the dish #Recommended
To fulfill our dessert craving we placed an order for dessert shakes from the menu since they did not have any dedicated section and recommendable desserts. We tried a Snickers Shakemania and a Caramel Plus Shakemania (each priced Aed 20).
The Snickers shake was a thick milkshake with delectable flavors of chocolate and peanut butter. It was served in the right consistency of nutty flavors, and chocolate with whipped cream and chocolate sauce topping. #HitAllTheWay
The Caramel plus, was an average pick with prominent milky-ness in each sip and barely any flavors of caramel.
Does the brand live up to its mission statement? Yes, definitely worth a shot for shawarma lovers!
