As it was the Eid weekend, I decided to start off the season of festivity and holidays with a treat to my tummy. I was invited to Sahara Grill to have a taste of what they offered. Well the name Sahara Grill would definitely be new to many in Dubai including me. But the brand has been a prominent and favorite spot to many in London. The brand was founded back in early 2000's with the simple mission of being a unique diner that serves the highest halal standard meat with variety of premium and exciting flavors and being pocket-friendly to majority. They didn’t believe in the cliché and traditional approach of being a diner that served basic menu of curries, fried chicken & pizza, but instead to serve as a viable option to many who are in search for halal and fresh food with signature flavoring.
Well, the rewards of thinking differently helped the brand to prosper quickly with 3 outlets in UK. The latest addition to the brand is the outlet in Dubai, which is located in The Mall on Jumeriah Beach Road right opposite the Jumeirah Beach Hotel. The birth of this outlet was prior to the holy month of Ramadan, 2016. The brand went through a major revamp in 2010 with a whole new branding and the concept of "Relaxed Themed Interiors." This concept was simple; the team wanted their customers to choose Sahara Grill as their diner option for any occasion, be it a casual or planned meal. The colors and other fit outs are done in a way that it sits well in this concept. Even the lighting, textured wallscape and spot lit artifacts all are done in a subtle manner and thereby offering a premium touch. |
The outlet in Dubai also follows the same concept with an added advantage of outdoor seating during winters. The interior concept is designed in a way to accommodate maximum customers, thereby achieving a 100%space to utilisation ratio. Terrace seating is a two in one area which can be closed or opened depending on the demand for it. Well the demand for it mainly depends on the weather and is a perfect remedy for not to lose out on space. This is done with the help of glass and blinds and ensuring that the view is not tampered.
As mentioned earlier, the brand has a menu that is flavorful. In order to keep it this way, Sahara Grill chooses to have daily supply of fresh Canadian beef, New Zealand lamb and locally produced chicken. They offer tantalizing combinations prepared with time-honoured methods and unique mix of recipes thereby leaving it a contemporary twist. This is partnered with the highest standards of quality food sourcing, finest preparation, 100% hygiene and immaculate customer service.
In the Dubai outlet, the menu is tailored according to the needs and tastes of the local customers in this market. This can be clearly understood with things like the use of potato bun, serving of hummus and warm bread along with a meal and much more. This is a practice exclusively followed in Dubai. My mum and I kicked off our grand tasting at Sahara grill with signature Sahara Lamb Chops followed by Sahara Wings and Cajun XXL burger for starters.

The signature Sahara Lamb Chops is a must have item when at Sahara. The texture of tender New Zealand lamb was perfectly cooked inside out making it a perfect dish! It was marinated in signature spices and charcoal grilled up to perfection. Each yummy bite was juicy, limey, and spicy. The signature flavours were on the hot side. Each platter priced AED 79 consisted of 4 pieces of well-seasoned lambs served on a bed of sautéed onions and slices of lime on the sides.
The Chicken Wings is yet another perfect and irresistible dish on the menu. The wings were nicely coated in a spicy, hot and tangy sauce with bursting flavours in each munch. The platter offered numerous pieces of tiny wings, served with sour cream and chives. This was priced at AED 49 and was also a platter with flavours on the hot side.
My personal favourite from the starters section was the Sahara Lamb Chops.

The Cajun XXL Burger was a simple chicken burger with rich melty flavors. The XXL chicken burger patty was cooked from locally produced poultry mixed with Cajun spices. The choice of each ingredient in the sandwich made the burger worthy of being mouth-watering. The tantalizing and smooth flavour of oozing melted cheddar cheese was delicious. The burger also had sliced lettuce, tomatoes, and grilled onions with mayonnaise. The burger was served in potato buns as per the local choice with an option of sides to pick from. #KickassBurger
For main course, we ordered a portion of Quarter-Grilled Chicken priced AED 25 (+ AED 25 for 2 sides) and a Sahara Chicken Steak priced AED 79. Both the platters are signature dishes prepared with flaming hot Sahara spices and flavors.
The quarter chicken from the Sahara Flame Grilled Chicken section is a chicken on the bone marinated with signature flavors and flame grilled to order. Thereby this retains the fleshy and juicy flavors of the chicken and also adds an element of being healthy being grilling the chicken. As a side dish, I picked a portion of Mediterranean salad with fresh cut veggies, cubed cheese with some subtle salad dressing
The Sahara Chicken Steak priced AED 79, is another personal favorite from the night with #Lip-smacking flavours!
This locally sourced chicken was marinated in spicy Sahara seasoning and flame grilled to juicy tender texture. The platter was also offered home- made style coleslaw, steak chips and picante gravy.
Not to forget, the staff were well trained and friendly. They ensured that they met to the brands high standards. The cutlery and other items were cleared from the table after each course. This was done in a professional manner without causing any inconvenience.

Dessert being the most important stage of a meal to keep the memories on and being a #ChocolateLover for desserts we ordered a chocolate cheesecake and a chocolate tiramisu. I was completely shocked to know that the desserts were imported all the way from Italy and tasted as good as prepared right from the kitchen.
The Chocolate Cheesecake was literally one of the best I’ve ever had. The beautifully prepared cheesecake was layers of crushed bittersweet chocolate biscuits on the base, chocolate cheesecake with chocolate mousse and lastly, frosted with the chocolate ganache glaze. Each layer was smooth, chocolaty with the perfect consistency of ingredients. The popular Italian Chocolate Tiramisu in Sahara grill was a rich dessert with gooey flavors of mascarpone, coffee and chocolate. The finger biscuits were soaked in strong espresso and arranged neatly over a bed of mascarpone and whipped cream. It was lastly, dusted with cocoa powder on top. The Chocolate Cheesecake and Chocolate Tiramisu was priced AED 29 each. The desserts were presented neatly with chocolate sauce garnishing on the plate. To sum up, the food and service is top notch. I felt the prices were reasonable and pocket friendly taking the location into consideration. #KickassBurger #Lip-smacking #ChocolateLover |
