Are you put in a situation where your foodie partner is adamant to go all Desi… Well, my visit to Punjabi by nature was of that sort. In order to spend some quality time with my mom, we decided to go lunching on a weekday. However, as I mentioned I was put in a state where my mother was craving for some authentic Indian food with rich spicy flavors.
Well to keep up to her wishes and to make sure we had a joyful time, I went through all the possible review to spot out the exact spot. During my browse for the venue, my requirements were simple; namely parking and taste. Having heard a lot about Punjabi by nature and the fresh food concept, I was fascinated. However it was against my first requirement which was parking, but never the less, ‘what’s the harm in trying’ was my approach as the rating for the place was more than what I was expecting. The outlet is located in Oud Metha next to Lamcy Plaza. Parking lots are numerous, but find parking is always a task during lunchtime, due to the presence of many offices in that area. But to our luck we found a spot in one go. The outlet functions from 11:30 – 3:00 in the afternoon and then 7 – 11:30 in the night. Thus, it ensures fresh food concept and cooked as per request. Even the preparation time for the food was not bad. The interiors and ambiance was a mix of both contemporary and pleasant. The lights were not harsh to the eye but at the same time, it lit the whole outlet well. The funky aspect was the quotes and other slogans placed all around the outlet. With two hungry tummys, we were focused on getting our food quickly, |
We ordered a Hariyali Chicken Tikka as a starter; priced AED 36. For the main course we ordered Dal Tadka gravy and a Murgh Tikka Biryani. Gravy without any bread would make it incomplete, so we also ordered a bread basket as well.
The Hariyali Chicken Tikka might sound a bit too complicated but the marination for this is the use of simple green chutney made from green chilly/mint leaves. Hours after marinating, the chicken pieces are grilled in tandoor until well done. It was served along with a thick chutney paste prepared from sautéed onions and cream.

For main course, we ordered a breadbasket priced AED 29, which to be frank was a bit too much for the two of us. The breadbasket was an assortment of Aloo Paratha, Roti, Missi Roti, Butter Naan, Garlic Naan & Laacha Paratha. Dal Tadka (AED 24) was a perfect pick along with the breadbasket, as it highlighted the traditional spices well. It was yellow dal simmered to the right thickness, topped with roasted garlic and a piece of dried Kashmiri red chilly adding a fiery taste to the dish.
Being a ‘Biriyani for life’ person, we ordered a Murgh Tikka Biriyani. (AED 36) The portion was just right for a person, but as this was an additional main course, it was easy for both of us to share. The Dum biryani and the aroma of saffron would definitely add the craving factory in your tummy for a spin. The tender chicken pieces were boneless and had a subtle smoked taste to it.

Is it over rated? Well the answer according to me is a NO. I felt it was a nice spot, with decent ambiance & pricing and more over serves fresh flavorful authentic desi food.
