Well for a while now, everyone has been going all over the place about the new Asian joint. Yes Prax, has been able to mobilize a huge crowd to try out their mellow Chinese flavors. No doubt the vibe has been positive as the social platforms and word by mouth approach has reached many.
The question of 'why not' shot up in me and I decided to try the outlet in Jumeriah for a small weekend lunch. The outlet is located right after Mercato. Parking is a bit tricky in the area but for my luck after a wait of 5 -10 minutes, I was able to get one right next to the shop. Something I noticed during this wait was the number of take away's was much more compared to dine in customer. The outlet offered both indoor and outdoor seating, but in this scorching summer heat, outside seating was a cross out from my options. Inside seating was well limited, but the warm and delightful smiles of the staff made me feel very welcomed. The live cooking station was also to the advantage of knowing and understanding of how each flavor and was used. The packaging for their food was efficient and that’s the main success for the huge numbers of take away customers. Even the dine in customers were served in the same manner which meant less messy eatin |

After a quick brush through the menu, which was straight forward and the scrumptious aroma in the outlet me and my friends ordered the must have starter of Chinese cuisine which is none other than the Dimsums. We had the chicken Sui Mai Dimsums that had 3 pieces and was priced at AED 16. From the main course we ordered the black pepper chicken and decided to mix match or in prax terms go freestyle on our second main dish. The main courses could be a meal for an extra charge of AED 7.
The steamed dimsums were served with two dips out of which the spicy chilli was a total thumbs up. It added the right flavor needed to complete the dimsums. The spring rolls were served as a part of the meal and consisted of 2 pieces. The rolls were just the usual with a crispy pastry crust.

The Black Pepper Chicken AED 28, was an egg noodle dish mixed with fresh ingredients of green peppers, broccoli, cabbage & spring onions. When I say fresh, they were extremely fresh as the colors and crunchiness with every bite was extravagant. The Bok Choy sauce was subtle and complemented the peppers and spring onions well.
For the free style we chose Egg Fried rice as the base and was priced at AED 25. To add an element of protein we chose chicken mixed with chilli basil sauce, topped with an option of 3 topping. We chose spring onions, broccoli and green sprouts. An extra price of AED 2 was charged per additional topping.
Despite the heavy meal, the staff was so proactive to convince us to try the signature Prax desserts. We tried both the desserts on their menu, Coconut Ginger and Date Caramel. They were priced AED 14 each and had the same base of Chantilly cream. The coconut ginger dessert was a unique preparation. It was layers of the cream base, delicate ginger cake and topped with finely chopped coconut chunks. The Caramel pudding also had similar layers but with a sweet sticky texture. The layers were moist soft date cake and a rim of caramel with the same Chantilly cream base. Both the desserts were dulcet and not extremely sweet.
IS IT WORTH THE HYPE? Definitely and is a must try
