Malabar express is a restaurant located in the busy streets of Karama. The key highlight of this restaurant is the model of a train compartment. The whole of their second floor has the fit out of a train compartment and floored with typical parquet. The name and logo by itself are the huge contributors to this fit out. Another interesting trait of this restaurant is the candle light dinner on all Sunday's. It is the first time i have come across a South Indian restaurant with this special trait. Or just to sum up, ambience should be the least of concerns as it is simply the best.
After my often visits, I could boldly make a statement that they are the only restaurant which provides a complementary welcome drink everytime. The food is prepared in a typical malabar style preparation. The hot sellers are the Tava Moluku(chilli) Fry, both chicken and fish, Rajdhani chicken, mushroom and cheese and many more. The best dish i would reckon is the chicken malabar dhum biriyani, which is served in an aluminum pot. The quantity is more than suffice for one and priced at AED15. It roughly has 4 pieces of chicken and rice to fill the pot. It served with raita, coconut chutney and pappadum; a typical trio for malabar biriyani. The lunch meals are also priced at a very economical range of AED 12 for both vegetarian and non vegetarian. Overall, by far the best and the most ECONOMICAL malayalee restaurant with the right ambience. |
