Having heard a lot about the famous and vibrant red velvet cakes at Hummingbird bakery, I thought of giving it a try during my lazy stroll at MOE. The outlet is located on Level 1 right opposite Home Centre at the far end of mall. Hailing from the famous Gourmet Gulf Group, I had my expectations set high as their other franchises are spotless especially brands like California Pizza Kitchen.
The outlet in MOE was of fair size with bright pink and white contrast setting creating a whole positive vibe, offering sufficient seating for the guests. The Hummingbird corner had a strong aroma of freshly baked goodies and warm cream, and brueing coffee which added to the cravings or infact triggered the taste buds to give it a shot. The display and arrangement of the cakes were well organized and was a visual thrill to any age group. The main reason for this I felt was the rainbow cake and stunning red velvet cakes with butter cream frosting. Having so much of expectation and thrill, I decided to try a Red Velvet Whoopie Pie which was priced at AED 17 per piece. The whoopie pie is a popular American dessert, two round mounds baked in cake or pie form and served with cream filling. The red velvet whoopie pie from Hummingbird Bakery is the authentic sandwich pie baked from red velvet cake mix with butter cream filling. The butter cream was a rich and creamy filling cooked with right consistency cream cheese although, the red velvet pie seemed moisture less compared to the rest. Overall, Hummingbird offers the must-have traditional pie. |
