Being the most happening and talked about restaurants in Dubai, I was eager to actually visit and dine in at Farzi. No doubt, the numerous Zomato posts and its strong presence on various social media especially the way they presented the food just kept pushing me to try it. Having set my mind to visit the outlet, I decided to go for lunch with my friends. Before actually going, I made sure that I did my small little homework, which was to read reviews and understand the most preferred dishes among the others. That’s when I read various negative comments about the rush and the need to make reservation. Making my reservation I went to farzi as planned.
Farzi Café is located in the newly done City Walk Phase 2 complex. Being born and brought up in the Dubai, this was the first time I had come across such a unique multi diverse complex. Farzi was located in a calm corner of the complex with surroundings mirroring London’s image. The infrastructures included the popular telephone booth; fine dining joints, entertainment and high-end retailers. As lunch was served between 12-3:30pm, the outlet was occupied. It was a sign that the young brand has easily won the confidence of many in the market. In spite being a café with Indian cuisine, they were able to attract not just the Indians but diverse cultures too. We were welcomed with friendly smiles of the staff. The outlet offers both indoor and outdoor seating, however being summer time and due to scorching heat no one opted to dine outdoor. The interiors and layout had a luxury and star touch to it. The inverted green plants and gold painted flower pots was a unique roofline for Farzi café. The staff also ensured that the tables were well laid with the right cutlery. |

A special mention to the server Mr Andy, he had great knowledge about the menu. Although he belonged to the Philippines decent, he was well versed with Indian cuisine. We started our meal with Amuse Bouche, a complimentary kick-start to the meal! The Amuse Bouche in French means “Mouth Amuser” and surely it was. The little jelly like balls were thickened froze yogurt balls that would burst into berry flavor in the mouth!
For starters, we ordered the signature Raj Kachori from the vegetarian starters section. This was an incredible dish, crispy shells that cracked up into tangy pumpkin flavor and chutney. It was served along with crispy okra (lady finger) salad. Lastly, topped with chilly and lime chutney foam. The chilly and lime chutney foam ensured that the flavors were not pungent but rather a perfect blend to the other flavors and crisps.
Following, we ordered the trending Farzi-truck sliders and the popular dynamite prawns. The butter chicken bun was a simple slider platter with a distinctive touch, sufficient for two. The Desi flavored butter chicken with green chilli mayo layered steamed bao was priced at AED 37. It was served in a very eye catchy manner. The mini sliders were presented in a toy truck which by no doubt was a unique way. As mentioned, the popular Tempura dynamite prawns were marinated blending authentic Japanese flavors with Indian spices. This was batter fried crispy prawns, dipped in chili mayonnaise and topped with lemon and chili foam for extra flavoring. The platter was priced at AED 42.
For the main course, Cayenne spiked prawns and lemon fried rice. The rich and delicious taste of peppered prawns served with lemon flavored fried rice was finger licking. The prawns had strong pepper-y savor that was yumminess in each munch. The platter was priced AED 53.
Chicken tikka masala carnish cruncher naan. The traditional classic tender chicken morsels came in an unexpected twist, representing the London telephone booth in a mini form. The thick creamy gravy had a very familiar touch just like as it was prepared at home. The tikka masala was served with warm butter naans (Indian breads). The overall flavors was delicious and worth AED 45.

Lastly, we ended our lunch marathon with an all in one combo of Rasamali tres leches, carrot cream and caramelized rose petal net. This unique combination of layers of rasmalai and gajar ka halwa (carrot halwa) with rose petal and saffron infused milk. The layers complemented one another, and were a yummy treat to the tummy. Even, the usual caramelized net provided a remarkable taste blending with the rose petals. This was priced at AED 33.
Also, Farzi Café served us with a complimentary dessert platter that was a unique preparation by trained chefs. The platter consisted of authentic dessert Phirnee cooked from Italian rice, saffron, milk and frozen sugar. Also, served with mawa crumble, nuts and rose petals, mousse and rabdi. The highlight of this unique dessert is that it is prepared live at the table with liquid nitrogen at -196 degrees.
Overall, a great food journey. Definitely returning to try and enjoy more unique combinations.
