As the Christmas season was round the corner, all streets and malls were decked up for the occasion. Every corner seemed merry and happy during this time, with numerous gifts and surprises from unexpected sources. If you have the blood of shopping, this is the most apt season as the four-letter word SALE comes with a bang.
In UAE, the weather also exhibits this happiness with a pleasant cool breeze, which makes it very favorable for outdoor dining for the foodies. The festive and winter mood is more lit in the Downtown area. The boulevard street is filled with bright rice bulbs all throughout the street. Therefore, to relax and satisfy my festive craving, I opted to dine in around this area. The choice I had to make from the ample options was a tricky task. The inclination was more towards some pungent and strong flavor through a mix of spices, and the quickest option that struck me was Barbeque Delights. It is one of the few South Asian restaurants in Downtown area and therefore, attracts a huge crowd. It is not only popular amongst South Asian’s, but also with local nationals, European’s and Arab expatriates. The brand made its debuts into this region in the late 2000's. Their very first branch in Oud Metha has been a favorite dine in option for the whole family. The brand offers a variety of Pakistani, Afghani and North Indian inspired dishes and delightful grills. Just as the name, the chain offers a cuisine based on traditional charcoal based cooking with the use of aromatic spices. All the stores are filled with this tantalizing aroma and can be considered as the main culprit for extra cravings. |
The outlet in Downtown is located in the Clarens tower. Parking is a major drawback in this area but never the less if you are opting for an outdoor seating in any of the restaurants in this area, it would instantly get a tick in ambiance check box due to the above mentioned festive ambiance. The interior of the outlet was also decorated with a Christmas tree and festive colors to spread the #FestiveVibes
The well-structured outlet offers a spacious dine in atmosphere with traditional Rangoli tiled wall finish along with Urdu calligraphy. My friend and I arrived at the outlet for an early dinner due to which we were unable to opt for the dinner buffet that starts at 7pm until midnight. Since it was an early dinner, we decided to keep it simple from the Ala carte menu.

We ordered one portion of “The Most Succulent” Malai Tikka from the Grills with my “All Time Favorite” Butter Chicken gravy. For a vegetarian option, we added Kadahi Paneer with deep fried puri parathas.
The Malai Tikka as mentioned was one of the most succulent tikkas I have ever eaten. The mildly flavored, yogurt and cream marinated boneless chicken pieces were grilled up to perfection with a juicy texture. A portion of Mint chutney was served on the side to enrich the flavors. One plate of Malai Tikka consisted of about 2 skewers i.e., 12-14 pieces of chicken with some sliced vegetables on the side

The Butter chicken was boneless chicken prepared in a slow-cooked tomato based gravy. The butter-laced gravy was thick and creamy in consistency. The combination of butter chicken with crispy flaky parathas was delicious #BestDesiCombo.
For the vegetarian option, we picked a Kadahi Paneer. This was a typical desi preparation of cottage cheese with green peppers in a tomato and onion based gravy loaded with spices. I felt, this was just an average gravy with excess garlic flavoring even though, it inherited traditional flavors
Barbecue Delights have always been one of the top restaurants for my #DesiFood craving with value for money and wide range of dishes to pick from for buffet and Ala carte. Also, the outlet ambiance is apt for family gatherings with proactive staffs
